Steam pressure reducing stations (SPRS) are designed to reduce the steam pressure at various locations along the steam grid. This process involves using pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) to lower the steam pressure at the point of use, which can lead to significant fuel savings due to lower steam and condensate temperatures. Automatically adjusting the steam pressure (with Smart SPRS) is particularly beneficial; the lower the steam pressure that will satisfy the load, the greater the energy savings. The maintenance of existing mechanical-type systems is problematic. Smart electronic systems are more robust and require less maintenance. Presenter Bio
With 45 years of industry expertise, Tony Ranallo is a principal/partner and the COO of Boilersource, a sales and solutions organization that provides boiler room equipment to mechanical and plumbing contractors. He is a member of ASH RAE, ASPE, CECC, IDEA, and ABMA, and served as president of the Illinois Chapter of ASHRAE from 2005-2006.
