Meet Ryan Hoger
If you’re an HVAC professional in the Chicagoland area, odds are good that you’re familiar with Ryan Hoger. In addition to being a featured trainer for our programs over the last 13 years, Ryan Hoger is the Director of Training at Temperature Equipment Corporation (TEC), where he has worked since 1997. He is a former president of the Illinois ASHRAE Chapter and has been active with gas and electric utility committees. Hoger has extensive experience with energy codes, building automation systems (BAS), energy recovery ventilators (ERV), dual fuel heat pump systems, Aeroseal® duct sealing, smart thermostats, variable refrigerant flow (VRF), economizers and packaged rooftop units (RTUs), demand-controlled ventilation (DCV), and other energy-conserving HVAC systems. Ryan has authored articles on HVAC topics for various publications and is the featured instructor on TecTube, a YouTube channel that provides educational content for HVAC industry professionals. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering from the University of Illinois, runs several youth sports programs, and is married with four kids.

Presenter Tony Ranallo of Boiler Source will cover gas-fired absorption heat pumps, which combines a generator and absorber to create a thermal compressor. This technology replaces the electric compressor, which is standard in air conditioning and heat pump systems.
